Hot on Weibo: 7 Post-GaoKao Tweets

China’s dreaded GaoKao college entrance exams finished up last week, leaving approximately 10 million exhausted students to revel in its passing.

The resulting hashtag on Weibo was #考后狂热 (kǎo hòu kuáng rè), and it appropriately summed up the mood.

Although there were some students a bit anxious about what comes next, the vast majority were excited to be done with studying, and kick back this summer.

考 (kǎo): test (as in 考试- kǎoshì)
后 (hòu): afterwards
狂热 (kuángrè): celebration, fun atmosphere

After the GaoKao has finished, my classmates have started to relax.  Restaurants where business is usually slow appear especially hopping today

I’m done celebrating.  Now I feel lonely and have the troubles of an unemployed graduate

I’ve heard that after the GaoKao the maternity wards are busy!

The GaoKao has been finished for several days.  My achievements are finishing the second season of Gossip Girl, and training my father from a kitchen klutz to a half decent cook!
